Hot-air welding of polypropylene
Polypropylene is welded with hot air on a modern machine which allows the welding of parts up to 50 cm wide. The weld length can be up to 90 cm. Hot-air welding is very productive, the weld is almost invisible and very clean. Given the fact that there no need to use any additive materials (adhesives etc.) this type of PP binding is environmentally-friendly.Polypropylene can be welded in a thickness range from 0.40 mm to 0.80 mm.
Ultrasonic welding
Plastic materials are welded ultrasonically as well. Ultrasound enables the welding of parts of various thicknesses. The weld length can be 310 mm at maximum. The weld shape is determined by the Sonotrode shape. The attached illustrations show the typical shape of ultrasonic welds. A weld can be prepared as required by the customer. Given the fact that there is no need to use any additive materials (adhesives etc.) this binding type is environmentally-friendly as well.In practice, it is possible to weld polypropylene and other thermoplastics of unlimited thickness.
